01900		An exhibit of computer assisted and computer inspired  prints
02000	by  Edith  Smith  will  be  held  at  CCRMA,  the Center for Computer
02100	Research in Music  and  Acoustics  at  Stanford  University,  May  14
02200	through June  6.  The etchings, lithographs, and monotypes comprising
02300	the show depict the computer center, its hardware,  its  people,  and
02400	its  advanced  technology.  The  computer-generated  etchings utilize
02500	edge-finding programs and digital  distortions  of  computer-directed
02600	video  imagery  translated  into  fine prints through photo sensitive
02700	etching  processes.   The  computer  environment   is   captured   in
02800	traditional intaglio technique by mezzotint, an 18th-century process.
02900	A series of monotype images complete the exhibit.

03100		Edith Smith is a Palo Alto painter  and  printmaker  who  has
03200	exhibited locally at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Palo
03300	Alto Cultural Center, Dominican College; in New York at the  Artists'
03400	Gallery;  and  in  Brussels  at  the  Galerie Dautzenberg.  She is an
03500	instructor of printmaking at Foothill College, Los Altos Hills.   The
03600	show  will  be  on  display from 10 A.M. until 5 P.M., Monday through
03700	Friday.  The Stanford Center  for  Computer  Research  in  Music  and
03800	Acoustics is located at 1600 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto.\.
